Hey, digging up a super old thread against the wishes of the bright red warning text at the top here.

I have a friend coming in December, and my googling led me to the same timetable as Zhuzhu found -- at this website http://www.chibakotsu.co.jp/kousoku/kofu.htm
I don't know why my computer can't read the kanji, unless the webmasters are just swearing a lot.

SO QUESTION 1: I can't tell the prices. Is it what Fred said here last year? 4,000ish from Kofu/Ryuo? Because I thought I heard somewheres that it was only 1,900.

QUESTION 2: I was planning on picking her up at Kofu, but I live in Ryuo, and I was surprised to see it as an option on the timetable. Where does the bus let off? I've never seen any around the Ryuo train station.

QUESTION 3: Is the bus-getting place in Narita relatively easy for a person to find? Dave, is this what you used to get Cha? She will be coming in Terminal 2, and I REALLY don't want to bus to Narita just to pick her ass up.

QUESTION 4: Anyone know if the reservation place speak-a the English? Anyone know the number?

Sorry, I'm a moron. I did a quick search for these things already and was inconclusive.

Q1. Prices are the same
Q2. No idea. Sorry. Perhaps Dennis will know. But all the buses from Narita stop there.
Q3. Yes, its easy. When you leave arrivals, there are bus counters on the back wall of each terminal. Just ask at anyone for kofu/ryuo and they will either say yes, or direct you to the correct one Buy your ticket and then you go to a numbered bus stop outside. Easy peasy.
Q4. I usually go in person and buy a ticket. I have never ever been on a full bus, but I may have been lucky. The ticket centre is in the bus stands of kofu eki. Go down the escalators from the south exit of kofu eki and cross the street.
The enquiry line is 055-223-0811, the reservation is 055-233-5711. I don't know if you can do the english there, but its worth a try. The website is

1.  Yeah, it's still around 4,300 yen or so from Kofu to Narita/Narita to Kofu (one way).

2.  They do start/stop in Ryuo.  There's a parking lot just to the east of the station, where the new section of road they're working on near the station that curves around Paul's apartment meets up with the old road.  That's the bus stop.  If that's confusing, it's between Ryuo Station and the golf driving range, close to the station.

3.  Yes, easy to find.  To get tickets, go to the Limousine Bus counter and ask for a ticket to Ryuo.  The ticket will have the number of the bus stop.  Go out the doors, and the bus pick-up place is right there.  Find the number and wait for the right bus.

4.  The ticket people in the airport will likely speak a bit of English, but the driver and guys that load luggage won't likely speak it, but they'll keep your friend from getting on the wrong bus.  The bus destination sign should be in kanji and English.  Here on the Kofu end, I don't think they speak any, but then I haven't had to try it.  :)

Don't remember the number off hand, but the website for reservations is, I think, www.highwaybus.co.jp, but theres a link to it from yamanashikotsu.co.jp

Oh, and the 1900 yen ticket is from Kofu to Shinjuku, if you were wondering.

The bus from Terminal 2 leaves from stop #11.

If you do have to go to Narita, be sure to bring your passport.  I don't know what would happen if you didn't have it at the checkpoint, but it would be quite inconvenient I'm sure.

Hey Lauren, looks like the guys covered all questions above - we actually didn't take the bus back from Narita because there's a 3-4 hr gap with no buses from around 2pm.

Here's a tip though - if your computer is having trouble reading kanji, but you have Japanese fonts installed (and I'm sure you do), then the particular page you're looking at probably has a different encoding - try this:

In Firefox, go to View -> Character Encoding -> Japanese (Shift_JIS) - that should sort it.

    6. Q&A:
Q: Where does the bus let off in Ryuo?
A: They do start/stop in Ryuo. There's a parking lot just to the east of the station, on the new section of road. That's the bus stop. (Look to the right, when facing the station entrance).

Q: Where is the Bus Ticket place in Narita Airport Terminal 2?
A: Easy to find. To get tickets, go to the Limousine Bus counter (near the Terminals exits) and ask for a ticket to Ryuo/Kofu.
The ticket will have the number of the bus stop. (The bus from Terminal 2 normally leaves from stop #11).
Go out the doors, and the bus pick-up place is right there.
Find the number and wait for the right bus.
Bulky luggage can often be stowed by the driver, in the hold under the bus.

Question about this. I'm leaving for spring break on Wednesday, with a flight out from Narita at 1:30 PM, so I need to be at Narita by 11:30, 12 at latest. In the past, I've taken the Narita bus by leaving my car at Miki's since we were going together, and then took a cab to Isawa where I caught the bus. But since Miki is no longer here () I need somewhere to leave my car for 10 days that will also let me get to one of the bus stops along this line. Any suggestions? How do others who don't live near these spots do it?

There is a carpark pretty close to Enzan Eki and I think it is 500yen a day to park. If you want, I can go and have a look at that for you...

There is also a parking lot at Ryuo stn in the same lot as the narita bus stop. It is 800 yen a day and is unmanned after
 roughly 10pm. No machines.

There's a place in walking distance from the isawa bus stop that is free parking that the Fuefuki girls were told to use last year. It is free and unmanned, but the problem is leaving your car there for a long period of time is not a good idea. People explicitly told me not to do that...so I would be a little worried about any place without machines etc.

If you leave your car there and have a bus reservation, you get so many days for free. 5 maybe? Not quite sure on that though.

I didn't know about the 5 day thing!

It's written here though:
http://yamanashikotsu.co.jp/parking/parking.htm
 "(上記の高速バスを往復ご利用の場合、5日間無料となります)"

Valid for all trips to Nagoya, Osaka/Kyoto, Haneda and Narita.  Unmanned after 11pm but you can still leave and come in (not gated off like other parking garages/places).

That's really useful and I'll keep it in mind for other trips. Ryuo is just a liiiiittle too far for me to make, though, because the bus leaves from there at like 6:30 or something. I'd have to leave my house before 5 AM to make that.

nope. contrary to all bus lines ever they only run in one direction. then when all the buses are just stacked up at narita because they don't go back and there are just too many of them, they make a ring and set them alight for death matches between the drivers
