Halloween at High Schools
« on: October 24, 2011, 10:03:32 AM »
Sooooo..next monday we'll be having a halloween party after school---tarot reading station, apple bobbing station,  ...the English Club wears costumes and wanders around the campus after school doing a kind of reverse trick or treating..

But usually for my classes I do a Halloween day with games and prizes...last year the student body voted for a horror movie instead so we watched Paranomal Activity (in 45 minutes!) And it worked out well.
My question is this:

Anyone have a better, scarier movie than P. A. that is appropriate for HS?

When I did HS, I showed the kids Sean of the Dead. They enjoyed it a lot.

You can set up the premise and skip to the 4th chapter (I think) it worked out to giving the last 50 minutes or so.  Good results.  We had some criers.  Best in a dark room with little ambient light ;)

One of my favorites...but how did you get by the "holy flaps, cafe au lait, pour vous" scene?  It's like watching a movie with my mom. cringe

jeez I think I need to catch up on my movies, I don't think I've seen that one either.

Plum did you do anything at Eiwa when you were teaching here for Halloween. Thinking about doing something with my English Play Club. What other activities are you going to do with your high school?

I didn't have the English club when I was there...
At HS here we have our afterschool events...pumpkin carving (for the members) then the reverse trick or treating, apple-bobbing, tarot card station (entire student body) and maybe this year we'll have a "guess the beans" jar for a prize.

How'd you manage apple bobbing? I wanted to do that but the only apples I could find were the giant expensive ones.
