Ski Trip II - Ski Harder (Feb 2013)
« on: January 18, 2013, 10:42:50 AM »
***** Places will be allocated based on how quickly I receive your RSVP. A full RSVP is required, minor details can be adjusted later*****

What: Skiing and snowboarding in Nagano
When: February 22nd - 24th 2013
Where: Aqua Alpine hotel / Hakuba Goryu Resort
http://www.aquaalpine.com/
How much:  19,000yen (Hotel + 2day pass),  16,500  (Hotel + 1 day pass), 14,000yen (Hotel only)
The February Ski trip will be generally of the same format as the January trip. So for those who did not go on it, click the link for the full explanation of the ski trip.
http://www.yetijapan.com/forum/index.php?topic=8736.0

The main differences are that we are staying at the Aqua Alpine hotel which is a 4 Star hotel.  A few of you have already been there, so will know how sweet it is and it is only a few minutes walk from the slopes. It is the top rated hotel in all of Hakuba on tripadvisor.com   :-D
http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g1120615-d1234902-Reviews-Aqua_Alpine_Hotel-Hakuba_mura_Kitaazumi_gun_Nagano_Prefecture_Chubu.html

To keep costs down, the rooms will have extra futons put in them to make them like a ryokan. We have the whole bottom floor and one room upstairs to ourselves which is pretty sweet but we are limited to 34 people. After the initial 34, accommodation will be at Lady Diana's as at the January trip. There are no Double/Quad/Single night options at Aqua Alpine but if we use Lady Diana, they may become an option.
The package includes 2 nights accommodation, 2 breakfasts and dinner on Saturday night.

If you want to try the other resorts, I can't offer discounted passes for them, sorry. You will have to bear those costs yourself. I am working on passes for other resorts.
There is no party room at the hotel, however we can use the facilities of the hotel including the lounge, bar and pool room. The bar will run happy hour for us all weekend. We just need to be mindful of the other guests.

I am using the same rental company as before, so the prices are.
                    Ski/Board + Boots - 1800/2800yen for one/two days
                    Ski/Board trousers and jacket - 1800/2800yen for one/two days
                    Goggles  - 500/1000yen for one/two days
                    Gloves  - 500/1000yen for one/two days

I will again arrange transportation from Kofu if we need it. Ideally, we don't. For those driving, directions are attached to this post.

Lessons are 5000 yen per person. I am not booking an instructor but using a different company this time. The lessons will be two hours instead of the three as with the instructors. If we get enough demand, I will book an instructor and we can get the 3 hour deal for 5250 per person.

I have been making some phonecalls and seeing if I can find discount passes for other resorts in the Hakuba area. At the moment, it looks like I can only get small 300-400 yen discounts. However, if I find anything significant, I will offer it up.
If this happens, you will be responsible for your own transport there.

Name: Sarah Anderson

Package: 2 nights, 2 day pass (snowboarding)

Gear rental: The lot. Board, boots, clothing.

Shoe size: 24.5 cm (women’s)

Height: ~168 cm

Clothing size: Not sure about my clothing size here…can I get back to you on that?

Gloves/Goggles: Need goggles.

Transport: Need a ride

I'm a beginner, but I don't think I'll be needing lessons. And the one resort pass is enough for me!

Well, it looks like this trip is getting pretty damn popular. 21 out of 34 spaces are already filled and I expect more to come soon.
If you are sure that you want to come, RSVP soon before these spaces get filled up soon.
