New council nominations!
« on: March 14, 2013, 03:54:42 PM »
This post is coming much earlier than usual but just wanted to get everyone started thinking about who they would like to see as the new council! There are three positions available for voting.

President (Brittany's job)- The president's job is to oversee things and help with a little bit of everything.  They are the main person in charge and typically assign duties as needed throughout the year.
Secretary (Sarah's job)- Main role is to write the Yeti Spaghetti but is also responsible for the distribution of information coming from outside of yeti (e.g, AJET)
Treasurer (Terra's job)- Collecting money at events, keeping and balancing the accounts and generally determining the budget and price for each event.

We also split many different responsibilities fairly evenly but it will be up to you as a new council to figure out who does what.

Nominating will be open until April 1st!

**Nomination and subsequent voting is open to ALL ALTs and CIRs in Yamanashi.**

After that, I will ask each candidate to write a short blurb and after that, voting will begin.  The results will be announced at the Nash 500 event which will occur in mid to late April.  We will let you know a definite time line as soon as we nail it down!

So, nominations will be open much longer than usual allowing people plenty of time to throw their own names into the ring or be nominated!  You can nominate by posting in this forum topic, by PMing me or by sending me an email at [email protected]

Did you attend YETI events this year? Did you enjoy them? Do you want them to be around next year? YETI events include Undokai, Sayonara Party, Welcome Party, the Pub Quizzes, YETI Idol, the Holiday Party, Shosenkyo and Fuji hikes, and whatever other fun events the council can think of! The council does everything they can to provide a warm welcome for the incoming newbies ever year (not just JET!!). This year we also put a lot of work into revamping the YETI website (have you noticed it’s no longer 7 years out of date?). While it is a virtually thankless job, the effort and time required to get these things done is not at all difficult when the council puts their heads together. If you appreciated the events and effort this year's council put in, consider giving back next year! Think of all of the people from across the prefecture that you never would have met, the friends you never would have made, the good times you never would have had… Everyone is happy to pay a few yennies and show up to a fun event, but someone has to book the venue, someone has to plan games and prizes, someone has to publicize the event, and someone has to take the money and pay. What are YOU willing to do?

With that I am nominating:

Sara W. AND Emily McD. for Secretary.

Tristan AND Chandre for President.

Wagner AND Amanda R. for Treasurer.

Feel free to accept or decline as you please!  Just trying to get the ball rolling here.

Hey guys, you have only a few more days to make nominations or decline or accept the ones already made.  I would like to see the yeti council continued and carry on the tradition of having awesome events for ALTs in Yamanashi.

I have emailed those who have been nominated (that I had emails for) and no one has yet replied.

I will accept my nomination.

I may not be the most qualified for the job, but even if all this does is bring out the COMPETITIVE streak in the other nominees, then my work here is done  8-)

Com'on Tristan and Mike! I'm throwing down the gauntlet  :-o

If we don't get a new council, can we use the entire balance of the YETI account on a really really big Sayonara party?

You were nominated to run for President, she's challenging you to accept and run against her. or you could nominate yourself for one of the other positions if you like.

Council Nominees should definitely consider participating in the Nash 500 because that is the FIRST place we will announce the winners :) Also the event is my favorite event.  I've had a ton of fun in the years my team won and in the years my team came in dead last. haha

I'm afraid I'll have to decline mine.  I'd like to get more involved, but between my mediocre Japanese skills and frankly impressive ability to not know what's going on, I'm not sure I'm the best person to write the Spaghetti...
I do appreciate the nomination, though :)

Ok, three nominations for president: Chandre, Mike and Fred
Wagner for treasurer and currently no one for secretary.

Tomorrow is the last day to nominate and accept/decline nominations.  I still haven't heard from Emily or Amanda, let me know what you'd like to do guys!

If it's not too late I'd actually like to rescind my nomination at this point.  I think perfectly capable people have been nominated for each position, and I'd be more than happy to work with them as a continuing firat year rep!

We still don't have a Secretary at this point.

Thank you, MCAS.  I apologize, I went to take an early nap last night and woke up late for school this morning... my brain isn't working.  I thought I had read that Amanda was running for secretary, not treasurer.

On that note, I too would like to step back from my (as always, very eager) acceptance of nomination for the position of president. I'm happy to see far more capable and experienced hands have come forward for the role  :-)

HOWEVER! On an equally eager note, in the spirit of YETI prosperity (and power-hungry moves ) I would like to put my name forward for secretary.

This is a glove I can fit into.  :-D

Im a bit confused, so Chandre, youd like to run for secretary. And mike, youd like to stop all together?

If you guys would like, you can all run for president. If you lose, in mikes case, you would stay as first rep, Chandre or Fred  could take secretary. For the sake of competition and the fact that you previously wanted to be president, I feel it would make a fair and more interesting race than two of the nominees pulling out.

That sounds like a fair plan, karta.  I'll go ahead and remain in the running for president then.  Sorry for the confusion!

Great minds think alike? (fools seldom differ...)

I'll accept J.R.R.'s nomination for secretary <ahem>

I think I'll stick with my decision to step out of the running for president though. Apologies for the added confusion on my part!

haha, ok.  I think we have it sorted, then :)

President- Fred and Mike
Treasurer- Amanda R. and Wagner
Secretary-Chandre

Since we will be voting for President and Treasurer, I need election blurbs from Fred, Mike, Amanda R. and Wagner.  I have also emailed Emily M.  a few times and she hasn't gotten back with me.  If she accepts by the end of the day, we may also have a need for an election for Secretary.
Please state why people should pick you and keep it friendly!  You can PM to me or mail them to me at [email protected]
They don't have to be very long. If you can, please get them to me by FRIDAY, APRIL 5th.  Then, on April 8th, we will hold an election for president and treasurer.  Voting will be open for one work week.  We will announce the winners at the NASH 500 on April 12th.

Once I get your blubs, I will make a new post along with election rules.
