CheeSU
« on: June 04, 2013, 11:09:36 AM »
Im looking for goat cheese, gorgonzola or blue cheese.

Anyone have any experience finding these in Kaldi or something?

I'm an okay mechanic with a GED.  The only thing I've ever been good at is be an outlaw.

Yea, Kaldi.  I don't know if you know Ichiyama, but the one in Yamanashi-shi regularly stocks some designer cheeses, but they are FUCKING expensive.  I think it was like 300 yen for 80-ish grams.  I have bought their blue cheese and gorgonzola.  Both were delicious.

I was also going to suggest Ichiyama. How about Okajima in Kofu? There is another chain of supermarkets that paulxray also recommends too. I think it is PAX.

Oh, and maybe Grande L'Epicerie in kofu. I haven't been there for a few years, but they do specialise in gourmet stuff, so more than likely cheese will be on the menu there.

At Ichiyama, they're expensive, but they'll go on sale when they're close to hitting their expiration date so you can score them at 10, 20, even 50% off. That's the only time I ever bother with them.

Ichiyama is in..........Kofu?

Im making a candied salad and blue or goat cheese would do the trick of making it a sweet and spicy type of salad.

Yeah, Ichiyama is a chain with outlets all over the place, but in some of them they're combined with... what, a bookstore? A clothing shop? Something or other, and the combined shop is called It'smore. But it's still Ichiyama.
