Selling items on eBay FROM Japan (customs forms)
« on: June 05, 2013, 09:42:24 AM »
I want to sell some anime merchandise on eBay, but when shipping sold items internationally you need customs declaration forms on the parcels. Packages that are just personal gifts don't need the same forms, but aparently sold items/ones that are earning you money, need extra info for customs.

I am going to the post office today, but don't know how to communicate or explain what I need in Japanese. And none of my JTEs have ANY idea what I'm talking about when I explain the situation, so they're kind of no help.

Does anyone know anything about selling items abroad and what customs forms I could ask for at the post office?

I would say you should be able to find most of your answers here.

and this should answer your actual question.

Often wrong, but never in doubt.

I already sent you a detailed answer to your PM.

You actually do not need special customs forms other than the CN22orCN23 but you need those for sending anything abroad regardless of it being sold or not. You just need to check different boxes on the form.  But, honestly, just check the gift box.  If you are only selling a few things, it's just easier and you don't want to deal with upset ebay buyers complaining and leaving you negative feedback because of customs charges. They still may be charged customs even if you send it as a gift, but the chance is much less than if indicating it's a commercial item.

Yeah, I've always heard writing gift in big letters and saying thats what it is is the way to go.
Its better for you and buyers.
