December JLPT
« on: September 10, 2013, 01:41:39 PM »
Ok? So, who's gearing up for this one?  Application process is open.  I'm signing up for the N2, first time that I'll take the test since starting JET.  I have a feeling it's going to be a bloodbath, but If I don't actually sign up, I don't think I'll ever actually study.

Will be taking N2 in December as well. I might be woefully incompetent for that level, but being told so makes me want to take it anyway. Pet peeve..

Besides, taking it to force myself to study mostly. More study sessions, please!

My conversational Japanese isn't too bad but haven't studied Kanji in ages. So, thinking about doing N4. Probably too easy but never going to find the time to study all the Kanji for N3 (while still not knowing half the ones i need for N4).
Wouldn't it be nice, to get on with my neighbours!

Good question...  At this point... reading the dictionary...

Actually, there are some good online flashcard programs, but that's the extent I have looked into it so far.

I have been using Heisig's Remembering the Kanji, but the course is kind of a long endeavor. It's definitely meant for the long-term rather than for any particular JLPT test. I'm really behind if I'm going to finish it before the test.

I use it in conjunction with ankiweb (both online and offline flashcard program), where you can also use the N2 study decks that others have made.

I'll check out the anki stuff!!!

I just went to visit my old anki site I used to study with and the website is no longer there!! Guess I haven't been studying in a while with the anki but it definitely helps!

Been using (well, I briefly look at it every once in a while) it for a couple of years now. It's really good.

What 'test area' do we put down on the application form?

The JLPT this year is being held at Yamanashi University as opposed to last year's location (Gakuin). Can anyone recommend close parking to the university, or is that one spot west of the Kofu Station South exit the most convenient?

I was going to ask about this because on the letter it says don't drive and not to park anywhere in the area. Thought it was a bit strange. Where is this one west of the South exit?

Yamanashi U is north of the station and there isn't too much parking up the Takeda dori area. There is a pachinko parolor next to the library that might be everyones best bet. There are also a couple of overflow parking areas by Takeda Shrine and perhaps you could just walk down.

???

The pachinko parlor is probably the best place to park then. Ah well, at least I'll have somewhere to relax after the test  :-o

I don't really know Kofu that well. Can anyone post some directions?
