Plum Blossom-Viewing, February until early March
Before cherry blossoms, you can enjoy various vibrant and fragrant plum blossoms in Tokyo. There are several festivals, but the link below highlights 12 of them. Aside from taking in the beauty of the blossoms, you can partake in the usual festival fare, get your ume goods and daifuku, try amazake, and see various performances. Of the festivals on the list, I can vouch for the loveliness of the Yushima Tenjin Shrine and Hanegi Park festivals: lots of flowers, nice atmospheres, and the shrine had a lot of interesting performances.
Cost: Depends on the festival, but most have free entrance
Where: Various gardens and parks in Tokyo
When: Depends on the festival, but most last until the end of February and a few until the beginning of March

Introducing... Yamanashi

Diamond Fuji
Marvel at the many ways Mt. Fuji manages to be magnificent! Diamond Fuji refers to the refracting of the sun's light as it "rests" on the peak of Mt. Fuji before sunset (or after sunrise late in the year) like.... a diamond! The handy link below lists the locations on a map and the times you can see it happen. If you time your visit right, you can get a double Diamond Fuji from the reflection on Lake Yamanaka. You can also see the Ice Candle Festival afterward (look at Yamanashi Events above!).
Where: Lake Yamanaka, Minamitsuru
When: Until the end of February, depending on the day 3:30pm~5pm
More info: http://www.vill.yamanakako.yamanashi.jp/holiday_diamondfuji.php (Japanese, but map and dates are easy to navigate)

As always, thanks for reading!

No problem :) If you end up going, let me know how it is! I'm curious about it, but that weekend is completely busy for me.
