How do you feel about people who go ''Hadouken!''

Thursday is Ichikawadaimon Fireworks festival. Hopefully we'll see you there!

We have a spot reserved in pretty much the same location as last year. We'll get to that in a minute.

*** Getting there ***
It is highly advisable to come by train rather than car as there is usually a lot of grid lock although driving is possible. Even the town recommends you take the train.

For the trains, there is a special minobusen timetable for the day (both up and down).
http://www.town.ichikawamisato.yamanashi.jp/50sightsee/60festival/files/h26_jrzikokuhyou.pdf

For Kofu departures, they leave at 16.04, 16.36 (EXP), 16.44, 17.03, 17.27, 17.37, 18.11 (Gets you in quite late).
Ticket cost is 320yen. Normally, there is no suica service, so buy a cash ticket.
There are also even more additional special trains running between Minami Kofu and Ichikawadaimon.
I suggest getting the earliest train possible so that you can soak up the festival atmosphere.
Kelly and Amina have kindly said they will take people with them. Meet Kelly outside the Lotteria at the South Side of Kofu station at 17.15 to take the 17.27. Amina will meet you at 17.30.

If you must drive, here are the parking spots and road closures (Japanese only) although it looks pretty complicated to me.

If you are driving from anwhere but the south/some parts of Minami Alps, I think the easiest thing would be to drive to Aeon Mall, park there, walk to Joei statopn and then take the train. You can then take advantage of all the frequent trains.

*** Finding the spot ***
Hopefully the attached jpeg will help. Sorry about the lo-res look. Googlemaps was not giving me a decent map. Basically, we are along the river bank, opposite the fenced off toilets. Look for a bunch of English speakers! Please bring a camera and a tarp if you can.

*** Getting Home ***
Again, there are more trains than usual, both up and down the Minobu line.

Hopefully, with extra trains this year, there won't be a long wait at the train station.
Usually the trains heading south aren't so crowded, but those heading to Kofu can have a long wait. In this case, it may be worth walking the 10-15mins to Ichikawahommachi.

There are no special chuo line trains. So the last train is
22.33 (Otsuki)
23.02 (Enzan)
23.59 (Kobuchizawa)

Fred will be there early (doctor's appointment withstanding). His number is 080 5180 6736 if he hears it.

Isawa Fireworks is the last major fireworks of the season tonight! Anyone going?
It should be quite easy to go from Isawa Onsen station I feel, but I am not sure as it has been a few years.
If memory serves me right, it should be along the banks of the river.

I will be going in yukata as well ;) It's about a 20-minute walk to the river on Rt 310. The location in that google maps link is a bit too far north. Most of the fireworks action is across from Fuefuki City Hall between Rt 20 and 302.

(Approx 35.646416,138.639736)
Might be easier to get directions to City Hall though:
