Well, I've been inundated with a reply, but if anyone still wants to get involved the door is still open for Yamanshi folks. Unfortunately the women's team isn't happening this time, but the men's team is looking good & very multi-kentural
Sign up for joy

Dear Sports Fans,
Once again we are looking for boys & girls to join our largely incompetent-but-happy teams for next month's tourno up in the gorgeous mountains of Nagano. It's a 2 day event, consisting of soccer and socializing. The website is below, as are the prices. If you fancy getting involved in a cracking weekend, please drop me a line.
Both the girls (Yamanashi FC) and the men (Honshu Doom FC) are looking for players. All abilities are welcome, most of us are a bit rubbish but the odd one or two shine 8-). Please email me or post a question if you need more information

I'm putting a team together again for October's tournament in Nagano (details below)
I June we competed under the name of 'HONSHU DOOM FC', and got a respectable 3rd place. The team is a mix of foreigners from Yamanashi, Gifu, Kanagawa, Kobe, Tokyo and beyond.
If anyone wants to join, please email me at Chrismoore92*Gmail.com
And we play in black.....

Nagano Tourno, Oct 1-2. Click the link below. About 15 mens & 8 womens teams will be taking part

Yep! The 'Honshu Doom FC' team is as official as it is powerful! You still in?

"yo Chris I almost forgot all about this...we have enough for a team :? :? :?"

I'm looking to put together a Yamanashi mens team for the ALT Soccer Tournament in early June. We haven't had a team for a few years now, and we really need to start reminding people who / where we are! So far there are only a few of us interested, but there must be more out there! As ever, the Yamanashi women will be well represented through Mie Tsuchiya
The Nagano team have also mentioned that they are interested in joining up with us to form an unholy alliance of soba / peach eaters. Probably we will be called Nagayamanashino / Yamanonashinaga or something equally as pony.
Details of the weekend are pasted below, and viewable on the tournament homepage http://sites.google.com/site/altsoccertournament/index
Drop me a line if you are interested or know someone who might be,  here or at chrismoore92@gmail.com

Sports Fans,
After a terrible month in Japan, and after much consideration, we have decided to go ahead as planned with June's ALT Soccer Tournament in Nagano Prefecture. In light of everything that has happened in the last month it was a difficult decision to make. But we feel that the reasons and benefits of holding it outweigh the reasons for cancelling it. As a group we have the opportunity to raise a large amount of money for the relief effort and also help the people in towns not directly affected by the disaster who are struggling to make a living this year. Also, I'm sure for many of you it has been a tense time and we can think of nothing better than a good weekend together to let off some steam.
We are just hoping that most of you are still in the country to respond to this email!

Tournament details
Generally the same as in previous years, but with a couple of changes

WHEN IS IT?
June 4-5  2011 (Saturday start approx 9.30am, Sunday finish 3.30pm at latest)

500 yen's worth of raffle tickets for a charity raffle on Saturday *  - we will have some fine prizes and hope to raise over 100,000 yen from this

THERE'S MORE!
On Saturday we plan to hold a PUB QUIZ from around 7.30. The cost will be around 1000 yen per team, with the proceeds going to the Peace Boat relief effort (in return for some some truly wonderful* prizes)!

HOW DO I APPLY?
To apply, please email me soon to state that your team wishes to take part in the tournament. (Thanks to those that have already done so). I will then send you an application form (looks a bit like this), which you will need to fill in and send back to me TWO WEEKS before the start of the tournament (Friday, May 20th). When I receive your application form, I will then send you an invoice, which can be paid by bank transfer (furikomi) by Friday May 27th
Application deadline - Friday, May 20th (Applications must be submitted to me by this date)
Payment deadline - Friday, May 27th (You must furikomi your teams money to me by this date)
Tournament places will be allocated on a first-come-first-served basis, so please let me know as soon as you can.

Tournament structure
On Saturday, each team will play three or four games (fifteen or twenty minute halves) in a league style tournament. Following these games, teams will be ranked, and then on Sunday all teams will enter a knockout cup competition. For the men, it is likely that we will have two tournaments on Sunday for the 'The best', and 'The rest'.

For now, that's about all. Please let your teams know these details ASAP and lets get the ball rolling, hopefully we can look forward to another fantastic weekend of footballing in the mountains of Nagano.
More details can be found on our website, and of course if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to get in touch with me

Regards

ALT Soccer Tournament

Non-YETI Social Gatherings / ALT Soccer Tourno, Nagano Ken, June 5-6
« on: April 20, 2010, 09:32:07 PM »
The spring ALT footie tournament  up in Sugadaira Kogen (Nr Ueda city, Nagano) is coming up soon, and the Cherry Boys of Yamanashi haven't represented for a couple of years now. I think its about time we righted that wrong and send up a crew to sort out those other nasty kens. Our girls will be surely be sending a team, as will half of Honshu.
I'd like to put a team together to compete. And failing that, if we only have half a team we can join up with one of our neighbouring kens in Shizuoka,  Nagano or  Gifu to make some kind of unholy alliance (Yamanagano / Shizunashi etc ). Ive already had a chat with their team captains and they are keen on the idea (as long as we provide wine & peaches). Its held the week before the World Cup in Saath Efrika kicks off, so it will be the perfect warm up.
The prices for the weekend are below, and they include hotel accom, breakfast & dinner, a pub quiz & BIIIG dance party on Saturday night, lunch on Sunday and beer & trophies if we happen to do well. There will be about 500 people from Honshu & beyond going to this one, a proper scorchio weekend.
The tourno website is here

Anyone wanting to go, drop me a line at Chrismoore92*gmail.com

Prices
Tourno players - 11,500 yen (Sat night hotel), 16,500 yen (Fri & Sat night hotel)
Supporters - 9.500yen (Sat night hotel), 14,500yen (Fri & Sat night hotel)
