Just to clarify we only need the skis as we have our own ski boots.

Ok. No problem. It comes as a set anyway and it'll be less confusing for him to bring the boots with the skis.

Hey Freddo!

Sorry but I won't be able to make it this time around. Although this is my fav event but I have a wedding party on Saturday and hockey on Sunday!    What a bummer. I don't really have anything going on in February so I would love to make the second one! Just wanted to give you a heads up! Have fun up there!!!

No worries bud. It sucks but those commitments also need to be met.
The next trip is scheduled for Feb 22nd/23rd. Keep your eyes peeled for that one.

Hey Everyone,
Only 3 days until we depart and a few things for you.

1) We are now at 108 RSVPS.  If you want to come, there are still some places at the hotel but you need to make sure that you are able to make it to Nagano. Let me know and I'll see if I can help or point you to someone who can.
2) If you are getting rentals, please check out this google document and get back to me with any changes by Wednesday evening
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1KwLcXa4sprC2EVfpA5Zn4ZJFHoraYQZuu5vfjQ4BPRM/edit?usp=sharing
3)  The rooms will be decided on Wednesday night and then posted for you.
4) A lot of you have been asking about the second ski trip and it is scheduled for Feb 22nd/23rd. There are 40 spaces at the Aqua Alpine hotel and an event will be launched soon
5)  Looks like we are looking at some good snow conditions for the weekend!

Ok. Two things.
Attached to this post are the driving instructions to the hotel. I know that in this day and age, with smart phones, GPS, Navi and the such like, this is a little redunadant but it does hurt right?

Also, here are the room assignments. I've done them to the best of my ability but with the scale of the trip, it is impossible to get it 100% perfect.

You know he won't care.  Besides, with beautiful girls in his room, why should he have a need to complain?

Thanks everyone for coming on the trip. In my eyes, everything went relatively smoothly and it was a great success apart from the boat race result.

Thankfully there were no injuries this year and everyone got to Hakuba and back safely!

The party was intense! So good to see so many people chatting and drinking and socialising. The noise of the party could be heard from outside the hotel! I really enjoyed meeting up with old friends and getting to meet some new ones too. Really great times.

I would especially like to thank some people for helping me out with making the weekend run smoothly!

In no particular order....
Jeff Moses for helping with organising everything in Shizuoka especially the rental of the vehicles.
Rebecca O'neil for doing the same in Chiba.
Chris De Borja for support in Gunma and helping set up the party room.
A huge thanks to Dan Stone and Dan Baxter for getting all the alcohol for the party and snacks too. It meant bringing two cars to the trip instead of only one.
Patrick Loyer for jumping out of his own car to drive a rental vehicle
Hideaki Fujiwara for driving a bunch of random people from the Tokyo area and also getting some Yamanashi people
Amanda Ramond and Terra Wright for making the mulled wine
Mike Martin for driving all the Kofu people.
Sara Wells and Wagner for bringing the music system
Daniel Lawson for driving the Hamamatsu people and picking up other Shizuoka people
Gerard Noakes for DJ'ing.
Tristan Colterjohn for helping with the party room.

Honest to god, thanks to everyone who helped a little bit here and there and put up with me running away from them to do something. You all made the trip the success that it was.

Finally, if you can think of ways that I could improve the trip, let me know. I'll am always looking to improve it and I will work with the hotel owner to make our little changes. No guarantees, but I will try my best.

==========================================================================================================
let me know if you forgot anything at the hotel.
I am still taking orders for hoodies and polos if you are interested.

The Feb ski trip has been launched on the YETI forum and the facebook event will be up today.

You mean the Americans winning? It was nothing short of glorious  :-D
A great success indeed; we mustn't gloss over it so

I mean, how many years has it been since we've won anyway?

Yep... two years ago it was America with some help with Canada. This year, it was all America.

Here is what I wrote to Sachi...

Quote
Ugh..Sachi. It came down to the last cup and it cut deep man. It really hurt.
We had a very shitty start that had us on the back foot for the whole thing. Maybe the Americans were 7 cups drunk to our 3 at one point. We fought back hard but they deserved to win as we lost it. It was a straight fight.

Next year....bloody next year.

Bygone eras mean nothing, this is about the present my friend. You just can't hack it anymore. In the early part of the last century, the Commonwealth had to cede naval (and by extension, world) dominance to the US as a matter of inevitability. In the early part of this one, looks like the Commonwealth will again have to back down and make way for indomitable American boat power.
