UNDOUKAI 2014!
« on: April 23, 2014, 04:24:20 PM »
With the Snowpocalypse safely behind us, and spring exploding all over the prefecture...it’s time to emerge from your kotatsu, dig out your sunglasses, and get outside! Your new YETI Council is excited to announce:
YETI UNDOUKAI 2014!

When: Sunday, May 25th (or Sunday, June 1st if weather disagrees)
Time: 10:45 am - 3:30 pm
Where: Yamanashi Fujikawa Craft Park (Minobu). Location within the park TBA.

山梨県富士川クラフトパーク 〒409-2522 山梨県南巨摩郡身延町下山1597番地
http://www.kirienomori.jp/

To drivers: the entrance to the park can be a bit confusing; the road splits a few times after the last traffic signal.  Stay left!

Carpooling: Let us know if you have room to take extra people! We can arrange rides here.

By train: Hadakajima Station via Minobu Line.  Hadakajima Station bound trains will depart from Kofu Station at 8:43 am (Ltd. Express to Minobu & transfer) and 9:05 am (Local). The park is a 30 minute walk away, but we will help to organize a few rides from the station. If you don't want to walk, MAKE SURE you’re running ON TIME!

Cost: 300 yen for YETI members/500 yen for non-YETI members
What to bring: Yourselves, a competitive spirit, and something for lunch. There will be a break from 12:45-1:30. Make sure you’re prepared for whatever the weather may bring us (clothes, sunscreen, etc.)!

We’re also looking for four fantastic people to volunteer as team judges. You’ll be responsible for keeping track of points/times/etc. If you’re interested, let us know in your RSVP!

PLEASE RSVP BY MONDAY, MAY 19TH.
We need time to organize teams and prizes. Thank you!

Looking forward to seeing everyone bring their A-game!

No complaining but just wondering what was the reason for the choice of venue?
It's a bit of a trek for the majority of us.
Last year's venue was pretty good with the stream and what not.
Wouldn't it be nice, to get on with my neighbours!

Although I agree with you Jotham, one of the things that every council has to do, is to try and spread the events around the ken. So that everyone has atleast one event close to home and a few they have to trek to.
Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

OK. I've never been up that neck of the woods so it'll be a first.
I'll let you know which event I don't want to go to and they can plan that one over yonder in Hokuto  :-D

I already talked about it with Katherine, but I'm officially RSVP-ing for me and Loren Hellem. We didn't get put on the same team last year, so can we be together this time?

Do you have to be in the same team? We came up with the teams last time and the point of splitting people up is so that the teams are balanced in terms of foreigners/japanese people and skill sets. It also serves as a mixer.

The other reason I bring this up is because at the Yamanako dinner, Loren mentioned that people tended to sit with their friends which wasn't very "mixing" of them.

BTW, I went to this park during GW. It was great and worth the trek.

You just want to win that tug of war with Loren's super-human strength.

Do you have to be in the same team?

Certainly don't have to be, but I figure it wouldn't hurt to make a request. Loren and I had a lot of fun last year on our separate teams and we both thought there was a good mix of people on each team, so we'll have fun regardless. I guess it's up to the current council to decide if couples can/should be placed together.

Also, Jotham-- Loren and his super-human strength wasn't even enough to clinch a victory for his team last year, but it was certainly fun to watch him be manly at the tug-of-war! My puny girly arms were envious. :-P

Ok folks! Tomorrow's the day! There are a few things that you should remember to bring along with you! Don't forget sunscreen, hydration, your lunch, and maybe a change of clothes. For those of you riding the train in we will have people waiting at the station to whisk you away to our destination, Fujikawa Craft Park. For those of you driving please meet at Parking Area 2. See you there!
