Hello YETIzens and visitors!
Welcome to the YETI Wiki—your resource for information about daily life and things to do in Yamanashi Prefecture. Please come visit (or live here) and enjoy our beautiful mountains, delicious food, and amazing people!
Yamanashi Prefecture (山梨県) is on Japan’s main island, Honshū. The capital city is Kofu and it is centrally located in the area referred to as “the Basin.” While it may be dreadfully hot there in the summer, you can find some relief in the surrounding mountains and their small towns and cities. Yamanashi is bordered by Nagano, Shizuoka, Saitama, and Kanagawa Prefectures allowing convenient access to winter sports, the ocean, as well as Tokyo. We also have one of the most famous sites in Japan—Mt. Fuji.
More information about:
YETI has a ton of annual events that you can participate in but history and beauty are also rich in Yamanashi. Spring flushes the mountains and valleys pink, white, and purple providing tons of flower-viewing opportunities. As the end of summer approaches we celebrate the beauty of our lakes with fireworks and festivals. Every year we pay homage to Mt. Fuji with a fire festival in Fujiyoshida City. Even historical battles are reenacted at the Fuefuki River.
