Yamanashi English Teachers International is the Yamanashi branch of AJET. However, we also include past JETs, private ALTs and lots of other cool people (over 100 at last count!) We organize social, cultural and educational events throughout the year. You might have heard that JETs get stuck out in rice paddies, but Yamanashi is not that big and there is always a friend nearby.
YETI sponsors at least one event every month, ranging from ski trips and the annual holiday party to the Junior High School English Contest and Pub Quizzes. These events are the highlights of some of our social lives (ok, well maybe just mine). Nevertheless, folks keep coming so they must be loads of fun. Members of YETI receive discounted admission to YETI sponsored events.
Members of YETI also receive a weekly email newsletter called the “YETI Spaghetti” which contains info on what’s going on in the prefecture as well as notices from CLAIR, AJET and national groups. Other notices include upcoming YETI events, discount nights at bars, parties, concerts, BBQs, Yamanashi Soccer Team info and a classifieds section of things for sale. Subscribers to the “Spaghetti” are able to submit information for publication.
There are two ways to join: at the Local Orientation held in August, or at any of our monthly events. The membership fee for one year is ¥3000, which brings you discounted ticket prices for all YETI events. If you attend just a few gatherings, you will find YETI membership to be a good investment.
